An employee of Paradip Port Trust (PPT) on Friday morning died in a road mishap inside the prohibited area of the port. The deceased Trilochan Jena of village Singitali under Nuagada gram panchayat near Paradip was working as a supervisor in the port.
Sources said, when he was going in his cycle inside the Port to EQ-3 berth to attend his duty on a ship, a tipper hit him inside the prohibited area. PPT officials and police rushed to the spot.
He was immediately shifted to the PPT hospital where doctors declared brought dead. The body was sent for postmortem by the local police.
Meanwhile, the PPT management announced that compensation as per the port rules will be provided to the victim’s kin.
