Paradip Port Trust (PPT) Deputy Chairman AK Bose on Thursday disbursed compensation of Rs 50 lakh by a cheque to Sabita Lenka, wife and legal heir of Late Trinath Charana Lenka, a contractual dresser of the PPT Hospital, who succumbed to Covid-19 in October last year.
The compensation was disbursed in the presence of Dr P Panda, CMO, PPT Hospital, and other medical staffs. The compensation scheme has been declared by the Union Ministry of Port, Shipping and Waterways. It may be noted that due to proactive steps taken by the PPT management and the PPT Hospital in particular, this has been the only loss of life at the Paradip Port in the ongoing Covid pandemic.
