An all-time record was created on May 9 by the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) by loading 83,656 metric tonne (MT) of thermal coal into a Panamax vessel named MV Paola Bottiglieri, surpassing the previous record of 70,900 metric tonne of thermal coal loaded into the vessel MV APJ Mahadeva on March 2 this year.
The cargo was loaded by the Mechanical Coal Handling Plant (MCHP) of the PPT achieving a gross productivity of 4,233 metric tonne per hour (MTPH), i.e., 1,01,587 metric tonne per day (MTPD), which is at par with the modern coal loading plants of South African and Australian ports.
The PPT management has congratulated the MCHP department for the remarkable achievement.
