Workers of the District Congress Committee (DCC) on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the Indira Gandhi statue at the Old Bus-Stand here protesting electricity tariff hike by the Government. Addressing party workers at the protest meeting, former Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Sahu said the Government has started befooling the people by hiking the tariff. The people could not forgive the State Government’s love for power companies, he added. DCC president Bhagaban Gantayat said the State Government would face music for hiking electricity tariff to repay the arrears of the Gridco. “If the Government doesn’t roll back the tariff hike decision, we will intensify our stir,” said Gantayat. Among others, Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Bikram Panda, youth leader Pramod Das, Tumbanath Panda and party members were present.
