Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das on Tuesday "clarified" that power cuts would continue till October this year not June 2016 as the conditions of the power stations have improved.
"Perhaps you couldn't understand my point. I had told earlier that we are giving emphasis on water regulation till June 2016 so that power generation would not face any problem," Das told mediapersons here, adding, "I never told that power cut will linger till June next year."
He also said that condition of the power generation is improving now. "Durations of power cuts have been reduced and the situation will improve further by Durga Puja," he added.
Meanwhile, BJP State president KV Singh Deo alleged a secret agenda made by the State Government to sell energy to other States that prompted the Government for load-shedding. "The Energy Minister, who had stated that Odisha is a power-surplus State a fortnight ago; so, now how has the Government resorted to severe power cuts," he asked.
Notably, the State Government has announced for power cut of two hours daily in urban areas and four hours in rural pockets due to shortage of water at all reservoirs.
