There is a saying ‘if there is a will, there is a way.’ It has proved right in case of a Kendrapara-based poor salesman’s daughter who obtained 97.3 per cent marks in HSC Examinations, the results of which were out on Wednesday last.
The 14-year-old, impecunious Subhashree Dash, daughter of Halayudha Dash and laxmipriya Dash of Nasidipur village under Kendrapada township, secured 584 marks out of total 600 marks and got the A1 grade. When the news spread, the poverty-stricken parents got overjoyed. So were the residents of the village.
Though it was very tough amid excruciating penury, the iron will of the girl made her prove that money can never be a hurdle to get success. She has become an inspiration for hundreds of students of her ilk.
Subhashree dedicated her success to the family members, the village presiding deity “Maa Abhaya”, and the school teachers of Baladevjew High School. Her parents faced a lot of problems to meet her demands in studies. Subhashree stated that her mother inspired her and motivated her from childhood to be diligent in studies. “Though financial crunch became a hurdle for my study, but the effort and aim of my parents to do better in the HSC Examinations made me study more than eight to 10 hours per day,” quipped Subhashree.
She said that hard work, thorough preparation of text books and proper guidance are a key to success, adding that she wants to be an IAS officer in life.
