Preparations in various levels are underway for smooth conduct of the November 3 by-poll in the Baleswar Sadar seat.
This time besides the officials in the polling duties three other categories including physically challenged, senior citizens above 80 years and Covid 19 patients are allowed to cast their votes through postal ballots as per the directions of the Chief Election Commissioner.
The Sub Collector, Nilgiri is the nodal officer to oversee the postal ballot affairs while the district administration has issued his mobile No. 9437174513 for any quarries and difficulties regarding the postal ballots. For issue of postal ballot, one has to apply to the returning officer in form 12D. These forms would be given to them by the Block Level Officers (BLO) and filling up the forms they will be returned to the BLO.
Then the postal ballot papers will be supplied to them for casting vote. The postal ballots would be collected by the BLO or his representatives from their houses. The officials will visit twice to their houses to collect the ballot papers.
The postal ballot is not mandatory for the above category of citizens but once somebody from the category opts for a postal ballot, he or she can’t cast a vote in a booth , said a district administration release. These postal ballots procedures would be completed between October 9 and 13 by the BLO or other representatives.
