After hearing both the parties on the issue of environmental clearance to South Korean steel major Posco, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday decided to hold final hearing of the case on August 12.
lok Shakti Abhiyan president Prafulla Samantara had filed a petition against the company, the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF), the State Government on tree felling at Posco site. Samantara had mentioned that 2, 80,000 trees were cut by the State for the project. Earlier, the NGT has ordered a status quo on tree and vine felling on the plant site.
