Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday hoped that Posco’s proposed $12-billion project near Paradip would be put on track with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance to South Korean President Park Geun-hye.
“I think problems of big industries, including the Posco, will be sorted out. The PM had talks with the South Korean President to put Posco project on quick path,” Patnaik said at a roundtable meet organised here.
Notably on Thursday, Modi, who met South Korean President in Myanmar on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit, offered full support for establishment of the Posco project in Odisha.
“With regard to the Posco project, he (Modi) expressed his full support for it and said he would make efforts with the Odisha State Government to resolve any outstanding issues,” said a release posted on the website of the South Korea Government. Sources said the South Korean President also raised the issue of delay in allocation of a captive mine to the Posco during the meeting.
