It’s a bad year for the Odisha film industry and more so for the comic actors. A month and half after comedienne Runu and days after veteran Biren Routray, popular comic actress Jyotsna Satpathy, better known in her screen name of Mamina, passed away here on Monday evening.
like Runu, Mamina felt sudden pain in her chest and died while being taken to hospital. In both cases, it was massive cardiac arrest that ended their lives. like her fellow traveller again, she died very young at the age of 48.
Mamina, who had acted in nearly 70 films, ruled the screens with popular comic actor Jaiyee in the 1980s. Unlike Runu, however, Mamina also excelled in negative roles. She gave her best performance in Chha Mana Atha Guntha directed by Parvati Ghosh.She was also a popular actress in television.
Soon after the news of her demise spread, a large number of film and television personalities gathered at her residence to pay their last respects to her.
