Poor work: Subarnapur RD road in tatters

Published on:

The State and Central Governments are spending crores of rupees for good roads to countryside. But still good road communication in the rural belt remains a pipedream.

A burning example is the road connecting Narayanpur to Mukundapur in Subarnapur district which was constructed at Rs1.24 crore three years back. The road is in a complete shambles today under the Narayanpur Panchayat.

Sources said in 2012-13 the construction of the road from Narayanpur Narayani Kata to Mukundapur had been approved. The tender work was issue to a special class contractor on behalf of RD Department. The work was supervised by the officials after the construction resumed. However, quality was not maintained and in the last three years, potholes have appeared at many places on the road.

The locals are facing lots of problems while going on the road. Thousands of people of Narayanpur, Sankhachol, Kadlipali, Salepali, Mukundapur and Fabsi villages are depending on the road for their daily needs. The locals have demanded immediate repair of the road.
