Poor N'garh man fights for life

Published on:

Acute poverty has deprived a 35-year-old man of Arada village under Ranapur block in Nayagarh district of getting treatment for his prolonged illness.

Prabhakar Palei has been suffering from jaundice and tuberculosis for a long time. At the primary stage, his family members sold ornaments worth over a lakh of rupees and took private loans for his treatment at private hospitals in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

However, Prabhakar’s family couldn’t arrange more money for further treatment and later took him back to their home. Prabhakar, who was the sole bread earner of the family, is now fighting for his life. His parents, wife and two daughters are in distress as they spent everything they had on Pravakar’s treatment.

Concerned over the situation of the hapless family, the villagers have urged the State Government to provide aid from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for treatment of Prabhakar.
