The residents of Ward No. 10 of Chhatrapur town met Executive Officer of Chhatrapur NAC Uma Shankar Naik under the leadership of their Councillor Debasish Mishra and gave a written demand letter to improve the sanitary conditions of the Pani colony adjacent to Shankar Math Sahi.
They alleged that a man has kept more than 30 cats in an abandoned house and the cats are defecating and urinating in that area causing severe problems to the locals. The owner of the cats is not taking proper care of the cats and due to the discharge of faeces and urine by these cats, an unbearable foul smell is emanated.
The foul smell is so bad that outsiders and even vegetable sellers are unwilling to enter that area. There will be two marriage functions in the coming month and locals are afraid of the fact that guests may not come to the area due to the unhygienic condition. Though the locals have requested the house owner to do something regarding this, he is not paying any heed, they said.
They warned of staging a dharana against the apathy of the civic body in sorting out the issue.
