Poor drainage creates dengue fear in Parala street

Published on:

Residents of Seri Rally Street in Paralakhemundi town on Saturday demanded a proper drainage system in their locality to get rid of the dengue problem.

Water enters many houses of the street whenever there is a slight rainfall. As there is no proper drainage system, water remains stagnant, creating opportunities for mosquitoes to breed.

The water flows from Bada Nalla through lakshmi theatre to the Seri Rally Street and enters houses of Bangari lakshmi, S Savatri, Besai Dalli and Bisambara Bada most of time and sidewall of the drain has been broken.

After the rain stops, water stagnates with filthy things in the houses.

People have apprehended that dengue might spread as water stagnates near houses for days.

“The Government is spending a lot of money for holding dengue awareness programmes. But it is not taking measures to solve the real problem. Despite our repeated requests, the drain has not been repaired for months,” alleged local.
