Tension prevailed at the OPID Court here on Monday as the managing director of a dubious chit fund firm was thrashed by duped investors on Monday. Sources said chit fund firm Datum’s managing director Brajamohan Pattnaik was brought to the court for the hearing in the afternoon by the police.
Meanwhile, the investors who were duped by Datum rushed near the police van on the court premises. The irate investors rained blows on Patnaik on his way to the judge’s room. However, police personnel escorting Pattnaik controlled the situation and whisked him away to safety. Notably, Patnaik along with his wife had been arrested by the police from Bhubaneswar on November 6, 2018 for duping gullible depositors of crores of rupees.
