The Athagarh Forest Division seems to be at the beck and call of the most polluting units here. Several departmental functions are being performed under the sponsorship of companies like the Aarti Steel and Power, which have encroached upon huge acres of forest land and raised boundary on the land.
Notably, wild animals like deer, wild boar, antelope, rabbit and peacock etc were living in those forest patches but they have perished either because of loss of their habitat or poaching. It is also alleged that many officials are receiving freebies from these firms and granting them undue favour.
