Even after more than three weeks, at least four MlAs failed to respond to the Odisha High Court’s notices in connection with the election petitions challenging their memberships in the House.
While three MlAs appeared in the court on Tuesday through their respective advocates, the Congress MlA from Bijepur did not even think of that, forcing the HC to send him an express notice by special messenger asking him to positively respond to the notice by August 25.
While Chilika MlA Bibhuti Bhusan Harichandan sought six more weeks and Bhawanipatna MlA Anam Naik sought four more weeks to file their replies, Justice Debabrata Dash allowed them only two more weeks to file their replies to the petitions challenging their victories.
Similarly, another Bench comprising Justice Raghuvir Das allowed Rengali MlA Ramesh Patua to reply to the petition challenging his election within two weeks.
