A youth was chased and attacked with sharp weapons by three to four assailants in broad daylight at Sasang village of Gurudijhatia here on Monday.
The youth identified as Shivaram Rout was attacked by four to five miscreants of the same village, after he came out of his home in the morning.
Rout has sustained injuries on head, hands and other parts of his body and it admitted to a hospital.
Though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that Rout was attacked over past political rivalry which was reportedly triggered between the two groups from the last panchayat election.
Rout was rescued by some villagers who rushed him to the hospital. Meanwhile, keeping in view the tension prevailing in the village, police forces were deployed to maintain law and order. Interestingly, the whole incident has been captured in camera.
