The Utkal Sammilani has demanded formation of a policy for establishment of statues of illustrious sons of the soil and their maintenance in the State.
Sammilani Mancheswar Induatrial Estate Branch head Dillip Dashsharma said it is a matter of disrespect that no rules have been made to ensure maintenance of statues of the State’s leading sons of the soil, for which many such statues are left neglected after once being set up.
“There is no arrangement for garlanding and maintenance of the statues, let alone carrying out cleaning and colouring work on them,” lamented Dashsharma, who demanded that the State Government bring out a clear-cut policy in this regard to pay proper respect to the departed leaders.
