In an initiative to remove fear about police among children, a statue known as ‘Police Uncle’ was unveiled here on Friday.
The statue, the first in the country, symbolises the bonding between children and police. The initiative is aimed at establishing healthy relationship between cops and public.
DGP Dr RP Sharma unveiled the statue installed at the premises of the SP’s office.
Usually, children get afraid of men in uniform. The statue ‘Police Uncle’ is expected to remove fear from their mind and create a positive mindset towards police among the kids, said Sharma.
He lauded the efforts of Jagatsinghpur SP Jayanarayan Pankaj for his move which would encourage the police personnel of other districts to be public-friendly.
He suggested that police develop a friendly relationship with public and create fear among the criminals.
