Police summon casting couch victim's father

The local Mahila police on Wednesday summoned the father of the casting couch victim involving Ollywood actor Tattwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pompom to depose before it.

The notice was issued a day after the minor girl’s father claimed that the girl whom the police had taken to the court for recording her statement under Section 164 of the IPC was not his daughter.

Meanwhile, supporting her husband’s version, the girl’s mother said that since the matter has been settled amicably, there is no need to fight a legal battle.

In a twist of the case, the girl’s father, whose allegation of sexual harassment against Papu Pompom had led to the actor-cum-politician’s expulsion from the ruling BJD and subsequent arrest, had on Monday filed a compromise affidavit at the Khorda District and Sessions Judge, saying he does not want to proceed with the case and appealed to the court to grant bail to the 43-year-old actor, currently lodged at the Jharpada jail her after his arrest on June 30.

“Being the legal father of the victim, I do not want to proceed with the case against Papu. The matter has been amicably settled between us. I filed the petition on my own will without any pressure or coercion from anyone,” the petitioner said.

While the high-profile case, allegedly committed in 2014, triggered public outrage and protests by many quarters and led to the lodging of an FIR by a social organisation, the girl’s father claimed that the allegation has no sanctity in the eye of law.
