Though the Brahmapur police have started investigating the land grabbing cases in the city, it seems that the police have only confined its probe to ex-Congress MlA Ramesh Jena and his aides giving a chance to other fraudulent builders to abscond.
As many as six land grabbing cases have been filed against Jena and his associates and many of his aides have been also arrested. But the police are sitting idle to act against other real estate operators, raising suspicions among the denizens. For instance, a land fraud case was filed against builder Babula Sahani at Gandhi Nagar here. But due to police inaction, he managed to flee.
Meanwhile, sources said that in many cases police are doing nothing else than only serving notices to builders for deposition.
