The Congress on Saturday demanded that for an impartial inquiry and to ensure justice for Mamita Meher’s family, Minister of State foe Home Dibya Shanakar Mishra should step down or else Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik should sack him from the Cabinet.
In a Press meet, party spokesperson Nishikant Mishra alleged that police have played a clandestine role to save the Minister and ensured that the main accused Govinda Sahu in the case would not utter a single word on the Minister’s involvement.
“It is matter of a great concern that an FIR related to the missing of a young lady was not registered despite numerous rulings of SC and HC and the criminal justice system,” Mishra said. He further alleged that police in tacit understanding with the Minister helped Govinda escape before being re-arrested.
