Police move court for NBW against Raju

Unable to trace Raju Barik, the prime accused in the sensational Dillip Nayak murder case at Patrapada, the Commissionerate Police on Thursday approached the SDJM Court here seeking a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.

Though the cops have managed to arrest three persons, including Raju’s elder brother Jaya Barik, they yet to trace the whereabouts of Raju. Raju has been on the run since the day of the shooting on June 18.

The police would declare him a fugitive if the court allows a NBW against him based on Section -82 of CrPC. This move will also empower the cops to approach the court for an order to confiscate his property based on Section -83 of CrPC. Notably, 35-year-old contractor Dillip Nayak was shot dead by rival Raju’s group near a construction site behind the AIIMS Hospital in Patrapada under Khandagiri police station on June 18.
