Two months after the arrest of Beltikiri Dream Centre Shelter Home managing director Fayaz Rehman, the Dhenkanal police on Thursday submitted charge-sheet against him. Rehman was arrested in December 2018 on charges of sexual harassment of girl inmates of the shelter home and carrying out religious conversions.
Sources said apart from Rehman, the charge-sheet also mentioned the name of the shelter home project director Simanchal Naik and assistant director Udit Lima. After the abuse of inmates of the shelter home came to the fore, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), said in its report that Odisha Government has not followed guidelines on protection of children at shelter homes strictly. Besides, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been probing the financial dealings and source of foreign funding of NGO Good News India which apart from managing the Beltikiri Shelter Home also runs similar shelter homes in other parts of the State.
Meanwhile, the Orissa High Court will hear the bail plea moved by Rehman on Friday. Rehman has moved the High Court for bail after his plea was rejected earlier by the POCSO court.
