A suo motu case has been registered against PCC working president and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi for giving provocative advice to party workers and instigating violence during a bandh called by the Congress against Kosagumuda gangrape and murder in the district on Thursday.
The cops registered a case under Sections 147, 341, 353, 283, 506, 435, 120 (B) of the IPC and Section 3 of PDPP Act.
In reaction, Majhi said, “We don’t panic in any kind of unfavourable situation. Whoever raises questions against mis-governance, it is policy of the Home Department to muzzle the voices.”
Notably, during the shutdown, Majhi was caught on camera asking party workers to keep petrol and diesel ready for setting ablaze everything on receipt of his order.
“Keep diesel and petrol ready… set everything on fire once you get direction,” said Majhi while speaking to a protester over mobile phone. Later, a car was set on fire at Ambedkar Chhak here.
The Congress workers had staged a road blockade on National Highway-26 at Chamuriaguda by burning tyres and blocked roads at several important places of town. Police personnel diverted some vehicles to move through the bypass road. Infuriated over this, Majhi called his followers and asked them to keep petrol and diesel ready to set everything on fire. Later irate locals torched a car near Ambedkar Chowk of the town.
