Police faced an embarrassing situation on Wednesday after tracing fugitive doctor Paramananda Acharya in Gopalsagar area. When the cops asked him to come to police station for questioning, the doctor showed an interim bail granted by the Orissa High Court on December 7 restraining his arrest till January 11 next.
The doctor had been absconding from Jagatsinghpur after two newborns were recovered from his clinic. The Child Welfare Committee [CWC] had lodged an FIR in the Jagatsinghpur police station, alleging the children were kept in his clinic for sale as their parents were not present.
Later, the police had registered a case and sealed the clinic. The CWC had shifted both newborns to local Sisu Ashrama shelter home.Interestingly, the doctor was spotted residing in a relative’s house in Gopalasagar on the Jagatsinghpur outskirts. So the police raided the house and nabbed the accused.
