The Odisha Suraksha Sena on Thursday strongly opposed the alleged police excesses on Hindus at Sambalpur during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations and threatened to take to the street in protest against such attitude of police.
“The police have adopted a partial attitude towards Hindus. ‘Akhada’ tradition is a part of Hindu religion and wielding of swords and lathis is permissible as per rituals. The administration should not interfere in it. What police did during Hanuman Jayanti at Sambalpur is condemnable,” said Sena president Abhishek Joshi in a statement.
He wanted to know why the administration doesn’t take any action when people of other religions wield swords to observe their festivals.
“We would unite Hindus in the whole of Odisha and resort to massive protest against the administration. The State Government will be held responsible f any law and order situation arises thereof,” he said.
