Congress workers attacked three Government offices and, in the process, properties worth about `5 lakh were damaged during the hartal on Tuesday. Three criminal cases were initiated against Congress leaders in this regard.
Train services came to grinding halt as hundreds of Congress workers led by DCC president Sarat Kumar Rath squatted on the railway tracks at the Puri railway station and another team forced buses to stop plying. Congress workers led by former PCC general secretary Priyadarshan Pattnaik stormed into the local municipality office and ransacked its various departments.
The municipality Executive Officer, the PHD Engineer and the Sadar BDO lodged complaints at their respective police stations against Priyadarshan Pattnaik, Ajay Kumar Agarwal, Uday Shankar Pratihari and 40 others. Most of the schools and colleges remained closed while traders did not open their shops.
