Two land sharks were booked by the Kumbharpara police here following a complaint by the Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple on Sunday.

According to Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple PK Hota, Krupasindhu Mahapatra of Khandia Bandh village situated on the outskirts of the town and Gandharb Senapati of Madhuban had allegedly manipulated land records and got recorded about one acre of valuable land situated in Gajapati Nagar, a posh locality of the city, worth Rs 4 crore in their favour and then sold it to nine persons recently.

Though the land stands recorded in favour of the temple managing body since 2000 following an order issued by the Odisha Estate Abolition Court in response to the claim of the temple administration, the land mafias sold the property. A criminal case against the two persons under Sections 468, 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered by the Kumbharpada police. The police went to the site and stopped the construction work over the land.
