Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Friday made a courtesy call on Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here. Both the States’ dispute with niegbouring Andhra Pradesh on the Polavaram project figured in the discussions.
Srihari assured Odisha his Government’s support on the issue, saying, “We have already made our stand clear. We are with Odisha on the Polavaram issue. We are both equal losers,” he added.
While Odisha is protesting against the arbitrary construction of the Polavaram project by Andhra Pradesh fearing that many areas in the tribals-dominated Malkangiri district would be submerged, Telangana is apprehensive of submergence of low-lying areas in its border district of Bhadradri-Kothagudem.
