The 32nd edition of peer-reviewed journal of English language and literature, ‘Rock Pebbles’ was released here recently amidst a conglomeration of poets and litterateurs.

The meeting was presided by Prof Dr Kusha Chandra Pradhan, HOD, English Department, VV Autonomous College, Jajpur Road. Noted Odia poet and Additional Secretary to GA Department Pradeep Biswal joined the literary soiree as chief guest and eulogised writing poetry as the best pass time.

He recited a beautiful composition from his recently published anthology entitled as ‘My house’. Joining as the guest of honor the Director of Higher Secondary Education, Ratnakar Rout paid glowing tributes and offered warm appreciation to the Editor of ‘Rock Pebbles’ Dr Udayanath Majhi. Noted English poet, critic and former Regional Director of Higher Education Prof Dr Kamalaprasad Mohapatra in his speech maintained that the poetry of earth can never be dead, although the tone and the temper, the vehicle and the tenor, the form and the content may undergo changes as in T S Eliot’s ‘The Waste land’.

Joining as a special guest of honor Prof Dr Ajit Mukherjee discarded the oft quoted notion that as civilization advances, poetry declines and opined that poetry shall always continue to inspire and ennoble us as it is neither moral nor immoral but amoral. Editor of the journal Dr Majhi narrated about the epic journey of the journal that started since 1986 and has now been an ideal platform for the research scholars, writers, poets for expressing their vision and vitality. The assembled audience appreciated the UGC recognition to the journal.
