BHUBANESWAR: A BJP leader on Wednesday alleged that massive fund bungling committed in construction of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in some blocks in Ganjam district.
“All norms have been violated in construction of some PMGSY roads . Hence, the Government should conduct an investigation and take stringent action against culprits,” demanded Srikanta Padhy at a Press meet here.
He said lakhs of rupees have been bungled by giving two names to the Digapahandi block’s Biribatia Road within two years of its completion. While the road constructed in 2010 had a life span of 10 years, it was damaged in five years and Rs 12.45 lakh was spent for its repair. Besides, a fresh tender was invited for a stretch of 0.263 km of the road in 2015. This work was undertaken in two different names and lakhs of rupees were pocketed.
Similarly, the Padmanavpur-Bhusandapur road was extended from 3.5 km to 4 km to connect to Minister Surjya Narayan Patro’s garden, he alleged and demanded that this project be probed. Similarly, the project cost of the Tumba-Kainpur Road has been increased from Rs 2.97 crore to 3.89 crore without any reason, he alleged.
