PM, Naveen must quit for coal, mining scams: BJP

Published on:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers will stage a jail bharo agitation on May 31 demanding resignation of PM Manamohan Singh and State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for their alleged involvement in corruption over allocation of coal blocks and iron mines, announced BJP leader Krushna Chandra Jagdeb here on Saturday.

“The BJP demands resignation of the Prime Minister because of the involvement of the Prime Minister Office (PMO) over doctoring of CBI status report  relating to coal block allocation scam before it was presented in the apex court. The Supreme Court had directed the CBI not to share information with anybody before it was presented in the court. However, the PMO violated the instruction of the court by prevailing over the CBI by making suitable changes in the report to save the Prime Minister who was having coal portfolio then. In a similar fashion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik too is involved in the multi-crore mining scam in the State,” Jagdeb said. Hundreds of BJP workers and sympathisers would participate in the nationwide agitation, district BJP president Sarat Mishra said. Mahesh Prasad Rath and other district functionaries were present.
