Plus II papers recheck not before Aug-end

Published on:

Even though the deadline given by the Higher Education Department to solve the anomalies in the marks awarded to the students in this year’s annual Plus II examinations already elapsed on Tuesday, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) authorities made it clear that the task cannot be completed before August end.

Sources in the CHSE said only one-third of the work of re-addition of marks and preparation of copies of answer sheets has been completed so far.

However, this year, the number of complaints has gone up by over five times to over 50,000 as the students have applied for re-addition in three to five papers. As a result, the number of papers to be revised has crossed over two lakh, the official said.

Council officials have claimed that till date, they have verified 70,000 papers relating to Science subjects while marks in 1800 papers have been increased.

While the Council requires at least 300 teachers for the verification work every day, only 20-30 teachers are presently engaged in the work.

Though the Council has urged the Higher Education department to direct college principals to depute teachers for verification work, no effort has been made in this regard till date.
