The fact finding committee constituted by the Higher Education Department would submit its preliminary report to the State Government on November 17, sources said.
Notably, the committee was formed by the Government to look into the omissions and commissions in the Plus II examinations and the evaluation process and suggest measures to improve the system.
On July 9, the Government had issued a notification to form the four-member committee under the chairmanship of Prof Amulya Kumar Panda after a hue and cry over the irregularities in the evaluation of the Plus II examination papers that forced the Council for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to receive thousands of applications from students for rechecking.
Basing on the committee’s recommendation, the Higher Education Department has aimed at conducting examinations this year. The committee would suggest measures for improvement in the system, revisit the Orissa Higher Secondrary Act and Regulation, 1982, and give suggestions and a draft amendment of the Act. It would also suggest revision of syllabus, evaluation process, re-addition, rechecking and suggest further examination reforms by the CHSE. A final decision would be taken by the department, official sources said.
