Bus services from here to different places of Jharkhand including Ranchi were disrupted as the People’s liberation Front of India (PlFI) called for a bandh in Jharkhand on Monday alleging police action against some of its leaders.
The PlFI alleged that Jharkhand cops have deliberately arrested some of its leaders and tortured them. It warned of intensifying the agitation if their cadres are not freed soon, sources said.
Following the day-long bandh, commuters on Odisha-Jharkhand border experienced a tough time as the buses, which regularly travel to Ranchi, Gaya, Gumla, Jamshedpur and Sasaram, stayed off the roads at steel city.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the border areas like Bisra, Jareikela, K Balanga to avoid any untoward incident. Combing operations has also been intensified by the paramilitary forces on the border.
