Plea to shut Cuttack courts, HC till Jul 31

In view of the increasing corona positive cases in Cuttack city and also among some advocates and a High Court staff, a plea has been made to the Chief Justice of the High Court to declare shutdown of all courts in the city, including that of the High Court till July-end.

Advocate Akshaya Kumar Pati, a former president of the city-based Criminal Court Bar Association, in a letter petition to Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq filed on Monday has brought to his notice that a senior advocate of the High Court and some other advocates of the District Court have tested positive to Covid-19 recently.

“In view of these positive cases, the life and health of other judiciary staff, advocates and their family members are in danger,” the petition said. The High Court has, however, not taken cognisance of the plea till this report was filed.
