The Odisha Bhasa Suraksha Samiti has opposed the State Government’s plan to teach college and university students in English language only.Samiti convenor Sankarsana Parida in a Press release termed the proposal as unfortunate and said there is no need to debar students from studying in regional languages as per the recommendation of the Kothari Commission.
“It is unfortunate that the State Government has decided to abolish Odia medium teaching college and university level despite the fact that Odisha is the only State formed on linguistic basis,” said Parida. He urged the Government to withdraw the proposal at the earliest failing which the Manch would resort to agitation.
