Plastic eggs in MDM in Mayurbhanj: State Food Commission seeks report

Published on:

After allegations of plastic eggs being served in midday meals at two schools in Mayurbhanj district resurfaced, the State Food Commission on Friday sought a report from the School and Mass Education Secretary by July 15.

The allegations of plastic eggs were reported from the Saint Mary’s School at Baripada and the Krushnachandrapur Minor English School in the district.

Earlier, the district Superintendent of Police had asked the SDPO to investigate into the case after an FIR was lodged by the parents’ association in connection with the matter at the Krushnachandrapur police outpost. The SDPO in his report said the eggs were of inferior quality and the supplier was being interrogated.

However, a preliminary report by the local Block Education Officer had claimed that the eggs found in the St Mary’s School appeared to be unnatural as they were small in size and greasy than original ones.

Basing on the report, the School and Mass Education Department had also initiated an inquiry.
