As announced earlier, a ban on single-use plastics came into effect in all urban local bodies (ULBs) in the State from the Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday.
As per a Forest and Environment Department notification, the State Government has banned sale, trade, manufacture, import, storing, carrying, transportation and distribution of single-use plastics in the urban localities.
Earlier, the Government had prohibited single-use plastic in six cities, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Puri, from October 2 last year.
