Plasma therapy for Covid shows good results

Published on:

Plasma therapy has brought hope for critical Covid-19 patients in the State as four out of six such patients who received the therapy are showing improvement in their conditions.

The four patients are no longer in need of oxygen support and would be discharged from Covid Hospitals soon. The two other patients are in stable conditions and are expected to be out of danger soon.

A total of eight units of plasma have been collected from four donors so far. Out of those, six have been used for four patients at the SUM Covid Hospital and two patients at the Ashwini Covid Hospital.

The plasma therapy for Covid-19 is currently being provided at SUM Hospital and KIMS in Bhubaneswar and Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack. The SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack has been designated as the nodal centre of plasma therapy.
