Distinguished social worker Padma Charan Nayak, senior journalist Barendrakrushna Dhal and litterateur Archana Nayak will be felicitated with the Janaki Ballav Memorial Awards-2016 on April 21 here on the occasion of the first death anniversary of former Chief Minister JB Patnaik. The awards have been instituted by the city-based Janaki Ballav Memorial Foundation.
The awardees will be felicitated by Governor Dr SC Jamir at a function at the Sarala Bhawan here, informed foundation president Annada Prasad Ray on Friday. Retired Chief Justice of India Gopal Ballav Patnaik would grace the function as guest of honour.
Foundation general secretary Gobind Bhuyan informed that in order to treasure the memories of late JB Patnaik for his distinguished contributions in the field of social work, journalism and Odia literature, the foundation has decided to honour achievers in these fields every year on his death anniversary.
The foundation has also published a 350-page book Jana NayakJanaki Ballav, which would be released by Dr Jamir on the occasion. Writers like Baishnab Charan Samal, Babaji Patnaik, Sangram Jena and Das Benhur have discussed in the book about the contributions of Janaki Ballav towards literature in prose, poetry, translation and sacred writings.
