A special planning authority has been formed to tap tourist potential of Bhograi including exotic beach of Talseri, Udaipur and Shaivite Chandaneswar and Bhusundeswar sites. While about Rs 17 crore would be spent in the first phase, 36 villages under seven panchayats would be included under the Bhograi block.
“The sole objective is to tap the potential and make it an international tourist hub. Within a week an expert team would be visiting the district which would give a detail report,” said district Collector Sanatan Mallick.
Under the plan a stretch of 2.7 km between Talseri and Udaipur (Digha border of Bengal) would be developed as marine drive. The road and other allied infrastructure would also be developed, said Collector Mallick.
About 6,444 Government land would be given for hotels, lodges and other purposes after demarcation, he said. Further, there is a plan of illuminating the road from Digha end to Chandaneswar and road communication up to Baleswar Sadar through coastline so that a tourist coming to Bhograi could come up to Chandipur, Remuna and Nilgiri after seeing Dagara beach of Baliapal in a hassle-free manner. After its development, there is a plan to promote water sports, parasailing etc. in the beach, Mallick informed.
MP Rabindra Kumar Jena said, “Bhograi and Baliapal have a tremendous tourist potential which remains untapped. Consistent efforts are being made through various quarters to bring the project under a special planning. It is a landmark achievement for Baleswar, especially for the northern blocks. Once the project is realised, it would not only attract tourists but also generate income and most importantly employment for local youths,” adding, tourism is only pollution free industry which can give ample of employment opportunities.
