A man lodged a complaint with the Town police station here on Friday holding a doctor of the district headquarters hospital responsible for the death of his pregnant wife.
Dambarudhar Das (26) of Jambeswarpur under Genguti panchayat of Remuna block alleged that he admitted his wife Sudipta Das (20) in the district headquarters hospital on Thursday afternoon at about 2.15 pm following she developed labour pain. But she died at about 9.15 pm as the doctor kept neglecting her.
Although she was screaming out of pain, the doctor didn’t visit. On the other hand, a nurse on the duty attended to her but it was of little avail, he complained.
Town PS IIC Bijay Murmu said a case was registered basing on the compliant of Das and the matter was being probed. CDMO Dr Anup Ghosh assured that action would be taken if the concerned doctor was found guilty.
Meanwhile, sources said tension gripped the hospital following the death of the pregnant women as her relatives went berserk accusing the doctor of neglecting the deceased. They demanded action against the doctor.
