The relay hunger strike of the members of the Parlakhemundi Bar Association entered the third day on Wednesday with the lawyers pressing for stringent legal action against Parlakhemundi Tehsildar Babita Dalabehera.
Supporting the agitation, almost all political parties of Gajapati district expressed their solidarity with the lawyers and demanded that the administration take prompt legal action against the tehsildar.
Bar Association president Siddheswar Mishra, secretary M Pruthibiraj and Suresh Patnaik, Rajat Kumar Patra, Satya Narayan Das, Rajesh Patra and Babu Pradhan continued their agitation by sitting on hunger strike in front of the teshil office.
Mohana block lawyers too staged a demonstration in front of the Mohana tehsil office and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through the Mohana Tehsildar demanding immediate action against Dalabehera. Mohana block lawyers’ association president Radha Mohan Sahoo, among others, led the strike.
