The ruling BJD has violated the code of conduct for election in the Parlakhemundi Municipality Nagar Congress president Basanta Kumar Panda alleged at a Press meet here.
He said that while the local Self-Government Day was being observed on Saturday at the municipality office in the presence of the district Collector, the municipality chairman and vice-chairman joined the programme and claimed that the himax light system at various places in the town and various other developmental programmes are being undertaken by forging dates.
They also threatened that all these issues have been taken to the notice of the State Election Commissioner, Panda added.
In another development, a Congress committee was formed for both the Paralakhemundi municipal Council and Kashinagar NAC to oversee the party’s campaign in the local body elections in the district.
