Toll collection at the Pipili tollgate in Puri district which had been stopped since Holi after a group clash, resumed on Wednesday but was soon stopped by police as the toll plaza started operating without the district Collector’s permission.
It may be recalled that villagers of Siula and Ujanipada had clashed over past rivalry near the tollgate on March 13, the Holi day. They ransacked the tollgate offices causing extensive damage to its property. This had led to closure of the gate.
