The by-election to the Pipili Assembly constituency caused by its MLA Pradeep Maharathy’s death is likely to be held along with the already-declared by-polls to the Baleswar Sadar and Tirtol Assembly seats on November 3, according to political observers.
The State’s three main political parties, BJD, BJP and Congress, which have been busy choosing their candidates, are now to search for their nominees for Pipili if the by-poll is also declared there.
Notably, though the date of the Baleswar Sadar and Tirtol by-elections have been announced, the Election Commission of India is yet to bring out notifications for the two by-polls. Never before in the State had three sitting MLAs had died within less than six months as ones of these three constituencies have.
