Amid rising Covid-19 cases, a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Orissa High Court on Monday seeking action against Daitapati and Mudirasta servitors for not wearing masks and maintaining social distancing during the Snan Yatra held on June 5.
In his petition, advocate Dilip Kumar Ray accused the servitors of violating the Covid-19 guidelines issued during the Snan Yatra.
The PIL, further stating that the social distancing norm is likely to be violated in the ensuing Rath Yatra, sought the court’s intervention to issue a guideline.
The PIL mentioned that the chariots can be pulled with the help of machines during the Rath Yatra without exploring any other options to ensure social distancing.
